Tiphereth Straker, Mortgage Agent Level 2. Why I do this, and why I do it differently than most.

Before mortgages, I was a personal trainer. I was finishing my kinesiology degree and going to women's homes to coach them through their workouts. Most of my clients were older women who just wanted someone in their corner. I loved that work.
Then 2020 happened. I was pregnant with my first, schools shut down, and no one was leaving the house. I tried personal training over video, but it was not the same. A friend at the time mentioned I would make a good real estate agent because I already ran my own business. But showing houses while pregnant with a newborn at home? That was not the season I was in.
So I asked myself a different question. What else in real estate could I do for my community without leaving my babies? That is how I found mortgage financing. Growing up as the oldest of seven, I watched my parents work through a mortgage without a real guide. I saw how much that one decision shaped our whole family. That kind of impact deserved better explanations.
I got my license in 2021. And honestly, I had imposter syndrome bad. I was the personal trainer in a room full of bankers and finance veterans. So while my babies napped, I studied. I learned everything I could about mortgage strategy, money management, and how wealthy families actually use their mortgages to build, not just survive. I wanted to be the person I wished my parents had access to.
That is still my why, and it is the heart of how I show up for every person I work with.
